Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
